Stockport Air Raid Shelters Trip 2013
In October, we visited the Stockport Air Raid Shelters, to help us understand what life was like for children during World War Two. We learned how to put gas masks on, tried on clothing made from spare material, tried our hand at household chores. Later, we explored the shelters, walking around the communal areas, medical bays, and used our torches to reach the unlit bedding areas... Scary!
We even made our own lunches using only ingredients available to children during the war - spam proved to be very popular!
