In maths some of the children have moved on to exploring  addition and subtraction. We are still working hard to secure our place value of numbers up to 100. We enjoy using the resources in the classroom to explore our understanding.

Fire Making!

Wow! What a great afternoon we had in Year 1C. We were lucky enough to spend the afternoon with Paul, who taught us all about fire safety as well as teaching us how to make our own fire! We also had the opportunity to toast our marshmallows on the fire! All of the children in 1C were so well behaved and sensible. Well done! Check out the pictures...

We have had lots of fun practising for the Christmas Carol concert, as well as learning some new instruments.

In our music lessons with Mrs Fowler we have looked at the volume of the music we have played, making the sound quiet or loud. We have also learnt some Italian words for this: forte and piano!

Year 1C thoroughly enjoy music lessons on a Tuesday and we are very excited to showcase our songs at the concert. We hope you can make it.

WOW! What a great time we had during our science day at St Thomas of Canterbury! It was lots of fun to be mixed with other Year groups and the children who were in 1C showed lots of inquisitiveness, team work skills and determination. We had lots of fun making cars and rockets as well as watching a super science show. Check out the videos and pictures!

This term we have been looking at the story 'Rosie's' Walk' by Pat Hutchins.

We have been thinking about adjectives and verbs to make the story more exciting. We are authors in the making!

During Autumn 1 we had lots of fun looking at the book 'What the Ladybird Heard'. We created WANTED posters for those cheeky robbers to try and catch them. Have a look at the display outside the classroom.

During Autumn 2 our main focus in Maths is still the topic number. We have been making sure we form our numbers correctly, as well as counting forwards and backwards. Have a look at our pictures to see how we learn in our Maths lessons.

Also attached is the PowerPoint from the Maths workshop. If you have any questions regarding Maths, please come and see me.

The New School Year!

What a fantastic start to school year we have had. We have been trying very hard with all of our subjects, learning new things everyday!

In Maths we have been looking at our tens and our ones, making sure we know all of our numbers. In English this term we will be looking at two Julia Dondaldson books - 'Zog' and 'What the Ladybird heard'. We have been enjoying the books so far and they have really been making us laugh!

In our foundations subjects we have been learning how to throw and catch a ball in P.E, as well as learning all about 'Toys From the Past' in History.

I am very impressed with the fantastic start all the children in 1C have shown me towards their learning. Remember to keep reading every night at home and to bring your homework in on Monday!
