Father Christmas

On the 1st of December, both Nursery classes welcomed some very special visitors all the way from the North Pole. Our Christmas elves, Jingles and Snowflake, appeared in our classroom whilst all the Nursery children were at home fast asleep. We can't wait to see what fun they get up too!

In Nursery we have been looking at the story of 'The Hungry Caterpillar'. In class, we have looking at different foods and learning about the days of the week. To finish off our learning, we baked some delicious cupcakes and decorated them in red and green icing to create our very own hungry caterpillar.

Last week we looked at the text 'We're Going on a Bear Hunt'. In our language session, we thought carefully about what we would need to pack for our own bear hunt. We had some amazing ideas, such as rope, food and a hat and scarf to keep ourselves warm. Later on, we went on our very own bear hunt in the nursery playground!

Throughout the year in Nursery, we will be learning about a variety of celebrations from around the world. This week, we have been learning about Diwali and how this festival is prepared for and celebrated.

This week, we have have been learning about Remembrance Day. In class, we made poppies and created our own poppy wreath. On Friday morning, at 11am, we took part in a 2 minutes silence and placed our poppies in God's Garden.

This term, we have spent a lot of time learning about autumn. We have taken our collection buckets out into our outdoor provision to find signs of autumn, such as coloured leaves, acorns and conkers. We had so much fun colour sorting the leaves.

Not only have we looked at the changes in the environment but, we have also worked really hard to practise and recite an autumn leaves poem in class!

This half term we have been looking at the numbers 1, 2 and 3!

We have been making number posters, learning the colours and shapes of numicon pieces and have been going on special number hunts within our classroom as well as out outdoor areas.
