Playground park for children with additional needs
St. Thomas of Canterbury Primary School has built a bespoke learning environment to meet the needs of some of our SEND children with social, emotional and interaction needs. The classroom opened in September 2019.
The Acorn Classroom is a well-resourced facility, which provides opportunities for children with social, emotional and interaction needs to develop and learn. It enables the staff to further personalise and differentiate children's learning in a fun and motivating way.
Children are able to access learning in a relaxed, welcoming environment, which is appropriately resourced and has high staff to pupil ratios. Pupils can use the provision in a variety of ways, whilst continuing to access their mainstream classrooms, thereby experiencing an integrated day.
