In school, we talk about the important ways we can keep healthy. An important part of our daily routine is brushing our teeth twice a day.See below the helpful tips to support your children with their oral health at home.

Today we got to meet Farmer David and some of his special friends.

The children were so happy to get the chance to walk the alpacas, stroke some ducks and even feed a 3 week old lamb!

Nursery East's farm visit

Nursery Ward's egg hunt!

This half term, we had some exciting visitors to EYFS! After waiting for the chicks to hatch, we were lucky enough to take turns holding and petting the chicks.

We have been very busy during our God's Garden sessions this term. Come and take a look at us acting out the story of Anna and Simeon, exploring our new lent boxes and participating in Collective Worship.

Valentine's day baking!

In Nursery, we have been preparing for Christmas in a variety of different ways including our Nativity performance, Christmas crafts and Christmas cooking. However, at St Thomas' we recognise that at the heart of Christmas is remembering the birth of Jesus Christ. We have been learning about Advent, and thinking about how to prepare for the true meaning of Christmas. The children have been making their own class Advent wreath which we will light everyday during our prayer and collective worship time.

Nursery nativity dress rehearsal

We are currently experiencing technical difficulties with our recording of the Nursery performance. Whilst we continue to work through these issues, please enjoy watching the Nursery's dress rehearsal which was watched by our Reception children.

Nursery Nativity 2022- Meet the Cast.

We have been looking at the text Handa's Surprise. As well as learning about the different animals in the story, we have been looking closely at the fruits collected in the basket. Take a look at the delicious fruit salads that we have created.

We have been looking at the text 'We're Going on a Bear Hunt'. We thought carefully about what we would need to pack for our own bear hunt and then we went to act out the story in our outdoor area.

We have been learning about Remembrance Day and why we pay our respects every year. In class, we have made poppies and after the school came together for a minutes silence, Nursery decided to place these in God's Garden.

We have been learning all about Bonfire Night. To celebrate this, we have been making some delicious 'Chocolate Sparklers'.

NE's Autumn leaves poem

NW's Autumn leaves song

Throughout the year in Nursery, we will be learning about a variety of celebrations from around the world. We have been learning about Diwali and how this festival is prepared for and celebrated.

This term, we have spent a lot of time learning about autumn. We have taken our collection buckets out in our outdoor provision to find signs of autumn, such as coloured leaves, acorns and conkers. We had so much fun colour sorting the leaves and creating beautiful autumn artwork with the natural materials.

Not only have we looked at the changes in the environment but, we have worked really hard to practise and recite an autumn leaves poem in class. We have also been busy making some delicious chocolate apples, yum yum!

At the core of our curriculum is Religion. Alongside the religion sessions and continuous provision activities that take place in the classroom, in Nursery, we take our religion lessons into God's Garden. This offers the children an opportunity to not only build on prior learning from the classroom, but to provide them with a weekly reflective religion session taught in our calming outdoor area (God's Garden).

The children have responded positively to these sessions and have spent quality time in nature, completely a variety of activities linked to their Religion topics.

Mathilda Beasley

This year for Black History Month, Nursery have been learning about Mathilda Beasley. She was an African-American nun who opened the first US orphanage for African-American girls. Inspired by her faith, she dedicated her life to educating and caring for young people. After we learnt a little more about Mathilda, the Nursery children decided to celebrate her life by helping to create some artwork which is now part of our whole school Black History Month display.
