School Meals
Menu - April 2024
Please see below the new menu for April 2024, it contains a mix of summer favorites and new exciting dishes. We understand a quality balanced meal enhances learning and development, which is why our menus are designed to help children reach their potential in the classroom. We have ensured the menus adhere to and exceed the school food nutritional standards but more importantly contain dishes that young people love to eat. With this menu we continued to introduce children to plant-based dishes and even more fresh fruits and vegetables.

School Meals
Citywide is the council's catering service. They provide school meals to most of Salford's schools.
Eating well is important for children's health. A balanced lunch will help a child concentrate better during lessons.
Our fabulous award winning kitchen endeavour to use locally sourced produce where possible. We are proud to offer healthy choices for your children.
Citywide only use high quality ingredients. They carefully select suppliers and use British sourced products and free range eggs. We have homemade soup and freshly baked bread on a daily basis. We offer lots of fresh fruit and we steam all our vegetables. Our salad bar offers a wide choice daily and we always have 2 main courses to choose from which are freshly cooked along with baked jacket potatoes and homemade desserts.
We hold special theme days, where we try new foods from around the world and we also ask the children to come up with ideas of foods they would like to try. We pride ourselves on encouraging the children to eat their lunch and try different foods.

Payment Method for School Meals
The weekly charge for school meals is £10.50 Please pay using your username and password via www.parentpay.com. If you have forgotten your log in details, please contact the school office where we will be happy to re-set your password and issue you with an activation letter.
Changes in meal arrangements
Changes must be agreed with the school office and NOT the class teacher.
If you would like to change the meal arrangements for your child, e.g. change from school meal to packed lunch, you must make arrangements with the school office. Changes can only take place at the start of a new term.
Notification MUST be made two weeks PRIOR to the current term ending, so we can update the Parentpay system and notify Citywide Catering Services. Arrangements must then remain in place for the full term.
Please note: If an agreement is not made with the school office this will result in a charge be applied to your child's account to cover the cost of meals ordered.
Packed Lunches
At St Thomas of Canterbury we actively promote a healthy lifestyle and we closely monitor the children’s lunches and remind the children about what to have in their lunch boxes.
If your child would prefer a packed lunch, please ensure that you provide a healthy packed lunch each day e.g. Sandwich, Yoghurt/Cereal Bar, Fruit, Drink (non fizzy). No sweets/toffees please.
We do have children in school with SEVERE NUT ALLERGIES and therefore ask that NO Nuts or anything containing Nuts are put into the children’s packed lunches.
Please do not send your child with pre-cooked food e.g. chicken burger/rice/hot dogs as we do not have a refrigerated area to keep the food stored which could result in build up of bacteria in the food.
Please keep packed lunches Healthy and Simple !!!
