Science
We have been looking at food groups and nutrient types. We discussed which foods belong to which nutrient type. We looked at the back of packaging to recognise what nutrients we get from each food!
Today we discussed what magnets can do! We explored the strength of a magnet against a range of different materials. We carried out a test to see how many paper clips a magnet could hold, how many papers a magnet can hold, the heaviest object a magnet can hold and the distance a magnet will attract an object. Here we are in action...
This week, we looked at different materials and whether they are attracted to a magnet or repel a magnet. We identified objects made of metal and had a class discussion to see if all metal objects are magnetic.
Year 3M carried out an investigation in science. We looked at how materials affect the way objects move across them! We carried out different tests using plastic, cardboard and fabric. We used a ramp and carried out a test to see how far/fast the car went down the ramp on each material and at different heights. Here we are in action...
Religion
Year 3M created a ‘random acts of kindness’ advent calendar. We shared our ideas of ways we can help others this December. Random acts of kindness are small, selfless gestures that can have a big impact on others. This December, we are going to think of others and carry out different acts each day. During December, we are rewarded with ‘advent tokens’ for showing random acts of kindness too! We can’t wait for the start of Advent...
This week, we discussed why parents and children love and respect one another, as God wants them to do. We shared our thoughts and worked in small groups.
Physical Education
Symmetry
We explored symmetry through shape and movement…
Dance
We continued to look at different circular movements. We used our upper and lower bodies, different speeds and in beats of four.
We experimented using different body parts to trace our names.
Gymnastics
Year 3M thought about different ways to move along the apparatus. We each thought of three different movements. Here we are in action...
We shared different modes of travel and how we can move from one area to another. We discussed lots of ways to move including running, jogging, skipping, hopping, jumping, crawling, rolling, tip toeing, star jumping and frog leaping.
In PE, we discussed lots of different ways we can communicate with one another. Drawing on each others backs, writing in the air, clicking our fingers, nodding our heads, blinking, clapping, stomping, shaking, tapping our knees and our elbows to the beat. Here are Year 3M in action...
Maths
In maths, we are have been estimating. We estimated base ten ones, tens and hundreds. We recognised that if we round to the nearest 10 or 100 it is easier and more accurate.
Writing
Our class book this term is 'stone age boy' We will follow the adventure of the boy and his meetings of a Stone Age tribe!
We will create our own writing pieces based on this wonderful book!
This also links in with our history topic ‘The Stone Age' and our Art topic Looking at Paul Klee and his abstract paintings!
History
In History, we are currently learning about the Stone Age! We have been discussing how the
Stone Age is split into three periods.
We have been looking at artefacts to help us learn more about the past.
Geography
Art
In Art, Year 3D have been learning all about the artist Paul Klee. The children have learnt how to create different tints and shades of a colour. From looking at Paul Klee's painting 'The Nile' the children have created their own piece of work inspired by this art work.
P.S.H.E
This term in year 3, we have looked at safety. We have looked at many different ways we can stay safe.
- How we can help us stay well and healthy.
- How germs can cause our bodies to become unwell.
- Knowing how to keep ourselves and others safe when someone is hurting or being mean to us.
Who we can ask for help or where we can find help
