This year, we are taking part in the Xmas4schools activities. You can have your child’s artwork turned into beautiful Christmas cards, poster calendars, mugs, gifts, gift labels and even tea towels! Below is a photo of your child’s independent piece that they chose to create by themselves! 🎅🏼🎄☃️
On Wednesday 9th October, we had a wonderful day learning all about Mary Seacole, as part of Black History Month. We have learnt so much about her life and why she is a significant woman from history. Can you remember why she was treated unfairly? What was the name of the hospital she set up in the Crimea?
Y1 enjoyed exploring their sense of smell and taste. Can you remember what the word 'bland' means, to describe how something can taste?
1P looking at how different our life is compared to Jesus' life!
Year 1C role playing the story of ‘The Prodigal Son’
In Religion, we discussed who God takes care of. We walked around our school to look at God's creatures, God's family and God's world. God takes care of everyone...
In science Year 1 have been naming different body parts and have loved learning about the five senses. So far we have explored our sense of hearing, sight and touch.
In topic maths, Year 1C have been exploring 2D shapes. So far, we can recognise square, triangle, oblong and circle. We went on a shape hunt in class, outside and around school. We also created a picture using the shapes we know. Look out for shapes you recognise in your home too!
Year 1 PSHE
We have been looking at our school rules and how we can make sure we follow them. Everyone in the class decided that when we are kind to others it makes them feel happier. Listening to others in class and we had a go at listening to each other’s stories. Sorting out different pictures, deciding if they are unkind or kind made us all understand that rules are important everywhere to make people safe and joyful.
