Ambleside in The Lake District

Dear Parents/Carers,

Although it is hard to imagine during this cold January, Year 6 is fast approaching and to prepare for this, we are taking the Year 5 children on a residential trip for 1 night/2 days. This is to help encourage the children to work as a team and have some quality time together in a different environment with the other children and staff. All the residential trips that we have completed over the years have been very successful and an essential experience for the soon to be year 6 children.

This year we will be exploring Ambleside in The Lake District. On the first day, we will be taking a boat trip, exploring Windermere and night activities. The second day will be packed with fun activities for the children such as; orienteering, exploring caves and walks.

We will be departing from school on Monday 24th June and returning Tuesday 25th June 2024.

The total cost of the trip will be £60. This will include the accommodation, food, travel and all activities planned for the 1 night/2 days.

If you would like your child to attend and you have not done so already, you will need to pay a non-refundable deposit of £10.00. This will also be classed as consent for your child to attend.

Payment will be by parentpay as normal and the cost can be paid in instalments.

To explain more about the residential, we are holding a meeting on Thursday 25th January from 3.20pm in the Year 6 annex. You can ask any questions at this meeting.

Many thanks,

The Year 6 team

On Monday 11th September, we have booked to take the Year 6 children on an educational trip to RHS Bridgewater, a new spectacular 154-acre garden. This will revisit their Year 5 science topic, ‘reproduction in plants’, and it will be a great opportunity for the children to immerse themselves in the beautiful gardens, as well as taking part in a ‘Investigating Plants’ workshop.

RHS ask that you consider a donation of £3.00 per child to help support their educational work. School have organised a couch to transport the children and staff and therefore we ask for a contribution of £3.00, making a total of £6.00 for the trip.

Donations and consent for your child to take part in the trip can be given online using the ParentPay link on our school website.
Please arrive at school for 8.55am so that we can get ready in our groups and leave promptly on the coach, soon after.
We will be back at school before home time.

On the day, children must come to school wearing full school uniform so that they are easily identifiable on the trip. Suitable footwear needs to be worn - trainers ideally. With the weather being very changeable, a thin raincoat may be needed, as we will be outside in the garden for most of the day. If the forecast is sun, please apply sun cream in the morning, before school.
If you have any questions, please speak to a member of staff from Year 6.

Kind regards,

Mrs Jowers and Miss Cooper

20th June 2023

Dear Parents/Carers

As the current Year 4 children (year 5 in September) will be studying the Victorians during the Autumn term, we have booked a trip to Salford Museum on Tuesday 19th September. This will immerse the children in Victorian history and provide them with a great head start to our topics in History and English. We will be traveling by coach on the day, children are to arrive at school for 8.55am to ensure the coaches can leave promptly, we will be leaving Salford museum at 3pm and arriving back to school for the end of the school day, traffic dependant.

In order for this trip to be possible, we need the support of parents to help cover the cost of entry to the museum and coach travel. We therefore ask for a parental contribution of £7.00, with the remaining expense being covered by school. If you would like your child to attend, please make a contribution online via ParentPay, with payment required no later than Friday 8th September. This is to ensure we have sufficient funds for the trip to go ahead.

*Please note that your contribution acts as consent for your child to participate.

If your child is on a school dinner a packed lunch will be provided, if your child is on packed lunches please bring this in as normal.

Kind regards,

Mrs Hawkins and Miss Connelly
