Year 5 Chronnell

Welcome to 5C!

We have had a wonderful start to the new term and the children have shown their enthusiasm and eagerness to learn.

Our class novel, Berlie Doherty's 'Street Child' has been a huge success and both the children and staff are gripped by this exciting account of young Jim Jarvis's troubled life during the Victorian era. We have been using this as a stimulus for much of our writing in English and will continue to draw upon events from the book until the end of next term.Class Novel

Our role play area is based upon a Victorian workhouse dining hall and we have incorporated Maths, English, History and some great method acting opportunities into creating an additional space in which the children can learn and attempt to immerse themselves in this important period in British and world history.

I am looking forward to helping the children reach their full potential during this important preparation year for their SATS in Year 6 and I am sure that as parents and carers of children in 5C, you will encourage your child to complete homework, read as often as possible, learn times tables/spellings and generally help to promote a love of learning at home as well as in school.

Thank you,

Miss. Chronnell
