Year 4 Longterm Overview

TRIPS AND VISITS

We have already been on some brilliant trips and visits this year...

Manchester Museum

We really enjoyed our visit to Manchester Museum. We took part in a session focussed on Egyptian Worlds. Museum experts Matt and Hannah taught us all about an Egyptian Princess called Asru who was mummified and donated to the museum. We were challenged to build a pyramid; we handled some ancient Egyptian artefacts and created our own Egyptian gods. Take a look at these photographs from the day:

Kersal Dale

We walked to Kersal Dale in September to meet with Gail, a Park Ranger and expert on the local habitat. She led us on a lovely woodland walk and leaf hunt. We identified different types of trees and even some minibeasts that live in Kersal Dale. We will be returning in January to see how Winter has changed the habitat.

4M were well-behaved during this trip and we look forward to going back!

Broughton Library

Our class visited Broughton Library ealier this term and we loved it! We were shown how the library is organised; how to find a book and how to locate non-fiction and fiction books. We even got to take a book out of the library at the end of the day. We hope that this will inspire lots of reading at home.

World Book Day

To celebrate world book day we came into class dressed as our favourite book characters. In the afternoon, we took part in a parade in front of the whole school, with five of our class being awarded a book for the effort put into their costumes.

E-Books - Amazon Rainforest wildlife

During literacy, we have been investigating the Amazon Rainforest. In particular, the different layers of the Amazon and what lives in each of the layers. The children, chose and researched information about their favourite animal and have created E-Books to display the information they have discovered.
