Welcome to Year 1T

In Year 1 we have had a fantastic start to the year and have been getting use to our new classroom and routines. As well as this change we have been working very hard in our lessons. Come and take a look at what we have been up to.
 

                                   

This half term we have been looking at stories set in familiar places. We started by looking at the characters and settings in the stories 'The Tiger who Came to Tea' and 'Shark in the Park'. 

                                                    

After this we looked at the story 'Rosie's Walk' and we have planned and written our own version of this story. We have done such a fantastic job at this we have started writing our own stories set in the park. We can't wait for you to read them!

                                         

This half term we have be focusing on place value and ordering numbers. We have been looking at how we can make a ten and what each digit in a two digit number represents.

 

We have been doing daily counting practise both forwards and backwards. We are also counting in 2's, 5's and 10's, any number practise at home will be greatly appreciated.

 

We are continuing to focus on number formation, this is to ensure that the children form their numbers correctly every time. We would encourage the children to use their number formation cards to continue practising at home.

                                  

In Science we are looking at Ourselves. We have been learning about the different parts of our body, our senses what we use them for.

 

Throughout the year we will be learning about the changes over seasons. This half term we have been looking at Autumn and the changes in the environment at this time of year. We would encourage the children to discuss these changes at home.
