Nursery

Welcome to our Nursery class page. Here we will update you with lots of information and share the different things we have been doing in Nursery.

Nursery have had so much fun learning all about Easter recently. We took part in so many fun activities such as making Easter cakes, creating our own Easter garden, decorating eggs, taking part in our Easter bonnet parade and we even had a very special visitor during our Easter egg hunt.

Throughout this half term, the children in Nursery have been working hard to learn there new poem 'Spring is Here'. We are so proud at how hard they all worked. Take a look at the videos below to see how amazing they all were at performing there spring poem.

This week, we have have been learning all about St Patrick's Day!
We spent the morning exploring all of EYFS and taking part in different St Patrick's Day activities. After dinner, we spent time in our own classes and tried a variety of Irish foods.

This week, we have been learning about Mother's Day. We have loved discussing all the reasons of why we love our mums and how we can help them. In provision, we worked together to bake some delicious cupcakes and decorated them ready to give to our mothers.
We hope you enjoyed them!

This half term, we have some exciting visitors in Early Years! We have been so lucky to see the baby chicks hatching. We can't wait to meet and hold them in the next few weeks.

This week we have been looking at the story Jack and the Beanstalk.

To celebrate our learning, we planted our own magic beans to see if they can grow into a tall beanstalk like Jack's.

This week, we looked at Ash Wednesday. As a class, we talked about what things we could give up for lent and practised making the sign of the cross on each others heads.

 

This week, we celebrated Shrove Tuesday!

This week we have learning about the colours red, blue and yellow. In class, we experimented with paint to see what different colours we could create. Take a look at the pictures below and see what colours we made!

Father Christmas

 

On the 1st of December, both Nursery classes welcomed some very special visitors all the way from the North Pole. Our Christmas elves, Jingles and Snowflake, appeared in our classroom whilst all the Nursery children were at home fast asleep. We can't wait to see what fun they get up too!

In Nursery we have been looking at the story of 'The Hungry Caterpillar'. In class, we have looking at different foods and learning about the days of the week. To finish off our learning, we baked some delicious cupcakes and decorated them in red and green icing to create our very own hungry caterpillar.

 

Last week we looked at the text 'We're Going on a Bear Hunt'. In our language session, we thought carefully about what we would need to pack for our own bear hunt. We had some amazing ideas, such as rope, food and a hat and scarf to keep ourselves warm. Later on, we went on our very own bear hunt in the nursery playground! 

 

Throughout the year in Nursery, we will be learning about a variety of celebrations from around the world. This week, we have been learning about Diwali and how this festival is prepared for and celebrated.

This week, we have have been learning about Remembrance Day. In class, we made poppies and created our own poppy wreath. On Friday morning, at 11am, we took part in a 2 minutes silence and placed our poppies in God's Garden.

This term, we have spent a lot of time learning about autumn. We have taken our collection buckets out into our outdoor provision to find signs of autumn, such as coloured leaves, acorns and conkers. We had so much fun colour sorting the leaves.

Not only have we looked at the changes in the environment but, we have also worked really hard to practise and recite an autumn leaves poem in class!

This week, Nursery had there first PE lesson. We had so much fun learning new games and moving our bodies in different ways. Have a look at all the fun we had! 

 

This half term we have been looking at the numbers 1, 2 and 3!

We have been making number posters, learning the colours and shapes of numicon pieces and have been going on special number hunts within our classroom as well as out outdoor areas.

In our language sessions this week, we have been looking at different clothes and learning the names of each item. Some of the clothes we looked at were, jumpers, t-shirts, socks, and vests. Take a look at the activities that helped us in our learning this week.


 

This week we have been settling into our new full-time classes. We have been making new friendships, exploring our new classroom and getting used to our new routines such as dinner time! Have a look at some of the fun activities we have took part in this week.

 

Over the past three weeks, each child has been settling into their new nursery life. During this time, the children have been making new friends, exploring the new environment and creating positive relationships with all the nursery staff.
